WOOD CRAFTING IN MALMÖ
Welcome to our introduction to woodcraft!
Have you ever wanted to start wood working but don’t know where to begin? Do tools make you nervous? Or do you just want to learn the core fundamentals?
Now is your chance to explore the wonderful world of wood craft. In this closely supervised workshop we will learn and use basic hand and power tools to learn how to make and build projects that interest you. The course enables you to work with basic tools independently and practice on a beginners project during class. Wood is a wonderful material to work with and this is the first step in your journey to exploring your ideas and creativity with woodworking.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE
We accept everyone and this course is suitable for both beginners with zero experience as well as the more experienced.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE
The starting point in all our courses is folk education pedagogy. In short, it is based on a dialogue between leaders and participants.
The first 2 days will consist of a basic lecture on safety, tools and procedures. Each day after, you will continue to learn new wood craft techniques that will apply to your individual projects. We meet 5 times and the teaching is held over 5 weeks every Sat. The first two days are the most important. If you cant make another day you will have a chance to make it up.
The teaching is adapted to your and the other participants' needs, interests and general background so that the course provides as much benefit as possible. The teaching mainly consists of your own work under the supervision of the course leader. The group consists of a maximum of 7 participants.
MATERIALS
The class will emphasize material re use and you will have access to many saved building materials but there will be more materials available for purchase during the course, for example special hardware or new materials while supplies last. You may bring in your own materials as well.
ACCESSIBILITY
The course room is wheelchair accessible. There is a disabled toilet. Portable ear loop are available. Consider our allergy sufferers - avoid strong scents. Our ambition is for as many people as possible to be able to participate in our courses and use our material.
