Upcycling Chair Challenge!

Upcycle, re-finish, re-use! 

Community Builds presents a chair challenge workshop that guides you to creatively transform a used chair and aims to show how a previously discarded object can be valuable material and not waste.

In an open workshop available for 2 1/2 days at your own pace and time commitment, you will learn and practice basic wood working in a fully equipped woodshop while having fun re-imagining an IKEA chair that was saved from going into the landfill. The first day we will have a mandatory safety and tool introduction and the rest of the time will be your choice of participation. There will be a total of 18 hours of open shop time with full guidance and troubleshooting from your coordinator.  You will have complete creative control to upcycle or re-purpose your chair and an expert to help you achieve your vision!

• We will supply the chair, tools, extra building materials, select paint, sandpaper, hardware, glue, dust masks and professional guidance.
• Carpentry teacher wlll be there to help you every step of the way
• 18 hours of optional workshop time
• At the end of the workshop you get to take your projects home to enjoy!
• All ticket proceeds go towards workshop expenses and fika
